My Orange email messages comes into Outlook Express fine, but the Bt one has the above error message, yet the messages come onto my MailWasher Spam filter ok, but not onto Outlook Express, I have checked the mail accounts with your questions %26amp; answers and are fine. I am using Windows XP Pro. SP2, Outlook Express 6. Can anyone help me, why this is happening please?

Reply:Check the settings on your outgoing smtp server. There was a recent change that requires some users to change their outgoing settings so that the id referenced matches the email address.

As far as I can tell, you can't do what you are wanting to do. OE uses 'POP3' mail accounts. Yahoo mail is a web based mail account. It is possibly a POP account, but it HAS to be POP3 to come through Outlook. You can use bluebottle.com, hotpop.com, and a host of other pop3 servers that will deliver in OE ( both those are free ), but not Yahoo.

All you do is put the web address into the account you are trying to create and your password etc. The problem I found in this, it is limits the functions you are used to in outlook such as delivery receipts, and read receipts, etc.

You usually assign an email server a static IP address. When you order a commercial type connection they give you an allocation range of static IP addresses. Then you can have the select few log into the smtp server at the IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx with their user name and password.





If you run an email server from home and your ISP finds out you may loose your account permanently.

You can do this by using the import/export function in Outlook. From the computer that is currently set up, click on File then Import/Export. Outlook has complete instructions for backing up your Outlook and that is what you want to follow. I'll give a little outline here:

2. Save to a file


3. Save to a personal data file (may have the name wrong here)


4. Once saved move that file to a memory stick or CD.


5. On each new computer use Import/Export and import that file into Outlook.

This isn't for the purpose of spamming a list of people. I just want it to send an email with an attachment with a certain name once per day at a specific time. The attachment will be a different file, but the file can have the same name and path if that will make things easier.

You can't do it since SP2, because you have to allow Outlook to send the email (by clicking a button in a popup) - an anti-spam "feature". But you can write a trivial little CDO routine in any language (including VBScript) to do it, and have it run every day with the task scheduler.
Reply:I don't believe you can do it with outlook but yes, you're looking at some sort of spamming software which is illegal in a lot of places. Otherwise you would probably be able to do this with a script within Linux, not a windows system.





Not sure if shell scripting in windows supports this or not, but my answer is no, you cannot do this in MS Outlook.

I have tried everything I can find and I still cannot send email from Outlook 2003. I have checked anything being blocked, all passwords are in place, my authentication seems right. What else could there be? Does Outlook 2003 even work with AOL?





I have tried the AOL software 9.0 and if anyone can give me help with using that, I would try it. It opens so many windows at a time it's too annoying to use. I have the proper settings for windows to open in the current window, etc. The software also has so many ads along teh sides and bottom.

Yes, you used to be able to use Outlook and Yahoo together without paying the 20 bucks a year extra to Yahoo...but as of a few years ago, that service is now only offered to Yahoo Mail Plus customers.

Generally a form is mainly used to send info from one page to another as I am sure you know. I do not know for sure if it is easily possible to use a pure form to send an email. BUT!...would you be willing to use php?? I did not know php untill the beginning of this year, and I have found that it is a fairly easy to learn language. You can use php with a form to send an email to an email address. The following link gives a great explanation of how to do this and even provides a little code.

5. Check the box next to "My Server Requires Authentication."

To control deletion of messages from the Yahoo! Mail server:





1. From the Tools menu, select "Accounts."


2. Click on the "Mail" tab.


3. Select your Yahoo! Mail account and click "Properties."


4. Click on the "Advanced" tab.


5. Check "Leave a copy of messages on server" if you want to save your Yahoo! Mail messages on the Yahoo! Mail server as well as on your local computer. Please note that setting your email client to remove messages from the server will cause your messages to be deleted from the server. Once the messages are deleted, we are unable to retrieve them.


6. Click "OK."


7. Close Microsoft Outlook and restart.





If your ISP blocks port 25 or if you're unable to send email, then you will need to use port 587 when sending via Yahoo!'s SMTP server. To make this change, please follow the directions below:





1. From the "Tools" menu, select "Accounts"


2. Select your Yahoo! POP account and click on the "Properties" button


3. Click on the "Advanced" tab


4. Next to "Outgoing server (SMTP), change port 25 to 587

You can't. You also can't with Hotmail either. You need to get the incoming mail server (POP3)address and their outgoing mail server(SMTP) addresses to be able to. I have yet to be able to find out exactly what they are. Let me know if you find out though.

its only possible to setup web based email if the settings within the webmail allow it. Yahoo free accounts, do not support pop access so you cannot use outlook for that. For your site you have to login and check the account for the pop settings...same thing for the university email.
